Good morning mugs
Handmade by me, Gillian, a Galway native living and making in Belfast, NI.
A striking design inspired by a holiday in the French countryside, where the rolling hills provided the perfect backdrop for the sun emerging for the day. I found myself captivated by the glorious views and wondering if there was any way I could capture the ethereal quality and vivid colours in a glaze finish.
My recent work had been leading me to glazing that had some of the qualities of this finish so, once I got home, it didn’t take a huge amount of trialing and testing to hit on a combination of glazes and application techniques that got the results I was so hoping for.
Wheel thrown, hand finished and hand painted using an intricate combination of 7 different glazes.
So, if you’re not a morning person, perhaps it’s just a case that you’re not waking up to your morning brew in one of these!
These pieces are made using made durable high fire stoneware clay and are made to withstand daily use.
Pieces are dishwasher safe.
